Roasting 2 Ads and Showing How To 2X Their Profitability

Today, we’ll be roasting some ads in different categories and show you how to make them much better.

But first, let’s say thanks to our awesome sponsor today! 👇👇👇

Introducing Roku Ads Manager: CTV Ads Made Simple

We have entered a new era of TV advertising where the barriers to entry are lower than ever, and Roku Ads Manager is leading the charge. Growth marketers now have access to Roku’s audience reach in the US. with a self-service ad platform that’s built for performance. Roku powers 47% of all TV streaming time* in the US, so your brand can run ads alongside premium content and meet your audience where they’re already engaged. *Comscore CTV Report, 2024

#1 - Sugar Wood

Roast:

  • The hook is too long. There’s a too-long pause before the guy says something or shows the product. I would

  • Also, as a straight guy, looking at a guy eating a penis waffle doesn’t make me really want to buy this lol.

  • The ad goes into “gift” angle. Gifts are typically not the greatest thing to advertise as they’re not evergreen. I would create ads that are non-gift related.

So here’s how to 2x their ad profitability:

#1 Segmentation.

There are definitely 2+ audiences when it comes to selling edible d*ick or v*ginas.

Data shows there are only close to 9% LGBT people, so I would definitely use attractive females in at least one of the campaigns.

I would create a campaign specifically featuring females, potentially multiple females eating these treats.

I have a feeling there’s a lot of potential segmentation here based on people’s kinks too. And there are a lot of creative ways to deliver the message and make the product desirable, potentially creating new movement.

#2 They’re really not testing enough creatives.

Looking at tiktok videos about this brand, there’s so much stuff that can be used on paid. And they’re only running one ad.

#3 Addressing major concerns

Buying something like this to your party might make other people think weird things about you. So I would show some shots of multiple people finding it funny/cool and most importantly accepting it as a normal but also trendy thing to buy.

#2 - Pearson Ranch

Roast:

  • This is one of the most terrible ads I’ve seen that sells meat jerky. Why? because it doesn’t show meat! the only thing it shows is the packaging. I don’t want to buy a plastic bucket or packaging.

  • Show me how the product looks, show me what feelings people experience when eating the jerky

  • Show me the “adventures” I’ll be on when eating this jerky.

How to 2x their ad profitability:

  • What this brand is currently doing is advertising a supposedly good deal. And it’s not bad. It’s typically better than no deal unless you know how to advertise properly.

  • So I’d shoot a bunch of videos and images with the product. I’d send the product to 10 very different creators and ask them to eat it on camera in the normal environment where they’d eat jerky (hikes, road trip, parties) and do a review on these in a very natural way.
